How Beginner Runners Should Train if They’re Already Fit
You’re already fit. That’s great, and it means you’ll be able to progress more quickly to being a full fledge runner, but, in the early days, you still need to go slowly; however, you can begin at a point further along the continuum of running training.
Most importantly, because you’re not yet a runner, start at a much earlier level than what you ‘can’ do in order to give your joints and ligaments time to adjust to the exact rigors of running, to hopefully, prevent injury. Then, later, it’ll be appropriate to progress, perhaps, a little more rapidly, through the weeks. Sometimes, the person who’s already fit can progress consistently and will not feel too challenged for a while, but it’s still important to hold back. Eventually, you will get to a place that will be challenging. The goal is to get to that place without injury.
